Ayutthaya:
Depart Bangkok in the morning aboard the Eastern & Oriental Express and settle into your beautifully appointed compartment. Lunch is served in the restaurant as the train journeys northwards through the Thai countryside.


Disembark at Ayutthaya where the magnificent ruins of temples, palaces and crumbling fortresses provide eloquent testimony of the former capital’s splendour. A guided tour is followed by a relaxing cruise on board a classical rice barge, passing the famous Wat Chai Wattanaram and the Queen of Thailand's, Ayutthaya Palace. Sit back and watch the riverside life glide by and enjoy afternoon tea.

During the evening, enjoy dinner on board as the train continues its journey. Retire to your compartment which has been transformed into a cosy bedroom.

Chiang Mai:
Breakfast is served to you by your steward in the comfort of your private compartment before arrival into Chiang Mai, Thailand’s second largest city. Chiang Mai has a rich and colourful history evident in its architecture and is renowned for the greatest concentration of handicraft industries in the country. Enjoy a sightseeing tour of the famous sites before returning to the Eastern & Oriental Express for lunch.


Later that afternoon you arrive into Lampang, where you may disembark and stretch your legs. Dinner and overnight onboard the train.

Kanchanaburi:
Enjoy breakfast as the train makes its approach to Kanchanaburi where you disembark for a photo opportunity of the train crossing the famous Bridge over the River Kwai. You then board a traditional large floating barge for a cruise along the Kwai Yai River. A short coach ride transfers you to the Thailand-Burma Railway Centre where a local historian will provide an informative tour through the air-conditioned museum. There is also an optional tour of a short walk across to the Don Rak war cemetery.


After rejoining the the train, lunch is served before arrival in Bangkok during the afternoon.
